Pearson was kind enough to send me a couple of newly released books to review. I plan to review them in the very near future!

Well, I guess the money I’m spending on my CCIE studies is already starting to pay off. I was entered into a raffle in April for a free bootcamp (based on purchasing Proctor Lab sessions).
I can’t believe I won a free bootcamp! Honestly, I didn’t quite have the money to attend the bootcamp with all the money I’m spending on study materials and Rack time. This is going to make a huge impact on my preparation for the lab, and I can’t wait! I plan to attend in August (which is when I have my first lab date scheduled).
Right now, I’m doing everything in my power to make sure I’m prepared, so I can take full advantage of the bootcamp.
It seems they also released some new workbooks today. I’m very interested in the Volume III workbook which contains 10 Mock labs and you can get the Video walk-through to go with it. Just when I thought I was done buying study materials!

I started the first week of my new job at Cisco Systems today. I figured I would wait until I actually started before I talked too much about it.
I accepted a position with the Cisco ROS (Remote Operations Services) group stationed locally in the Austin area. I’m in the Unified Communications group dealing with everything IP-Telephony related. We basically work in a NOC environment monitoring customers who pay for our service. Needless to say it’s a great opportunity for me since I’m relatively new to the whole voice arena. The possibility of working for Cisco has always been a huge aspiration of mine.
It’s really a dream come true and I’m totally psyched about it!
So on a side note, this will probably impact me wanting to get the R&S lab exam attempted this year (although anything is possible). I’m really trying to focus on this voice stuff right now because it’s in my best interests to do so! I’m hoping to knock out the CCVP by the end of the year so I can get my R&S stuff done. Voice is definitely extremely challenging compared to the other Cisco arena’s. I’m currently building-out a lab at home and having loads of fun with it so far!
more to come…

If you haven’t heard the buzz on Cisco NetFlow technologies, here’s your chance to gain some insight. NetFlow allows for some really awesome traffic analysis and reporting. With the help of NetQoS Reporter Analyzer, your networks will start telling some interesting stories.
Have you ever wondered how much traffic flowing through your network is P2P traffic?
Wouldn’t it be nice to know if an infrastructure upgrade is really the fix for your bandwidth problems?
NetFlow gives you information from your routers and switches regarding what they see on your network. Reporter Analyzer displays this information so that network engineers know exactly what’s going on in their networks. This visibility is something that we need when troubleshooting networks. Network engineers can now tune their networks to achieve the best performance possible!
